Every living member of the 1980 Miracle on Ice team showed up in Lake Placid to celebrate the 35th anniversary of their astonishing victory over the Soviet Union. This marked the first time that every member of America’s favorite team reconvened in Lake Placid since the 1980 Olympics.
Celebrations kicked off on Saturday with events taking place at the Lake Placid Olympic Center. The night ended with the raising of team member Bob Suter’s jersey which will find its resting place in the rafters of Herbs Brooks Arena. Suter is the first player from the team to pass away, a result from a sudden heart attack this past September.
Guests and staff members at the Hampton Inn & Suites spent the weekend in awe when members of the team roamed around the hotel’s lobby.
